An encyclopedia of the table, not a casino.

BetCanon publishes the rules, the math, and the history of every game on the felt. We do not operate casinos. We do not broker bets. We do not run affiliate funnels. Every page is dated, sourced, and signed by the editorial role that produced it.

What BetCanon covers

  • The Canon — the lexicon of every term, rule, and concept across blackjack, baccarat, roulette, craps, and the wider table-games world.
  • House Rules — game-by-game procedural guides. Rules variants, etiquette, hand signals, dealer protocol.
  • The Edge — house edge tables, payout math, and the numbers behind every wager on the floor.
  • The Pit — industry dispatches: rule changes, market shifts, regulatory filings, the cashless casino transition.
  • Tales from the Felt — stories from the pit. The players, the dealers, the runs that became history.

Editorial roles

BetCanon is produced by an editorial collective. We sign work by editorial role, not by invented bylines.

The Canon
Canon Editor

Owns rule descriptions and house-edge math. Background: floor experience, mathematics of casino games, peer-reviewed gaming literature.

House Rules
Procedure Editor

Owns game-by-game procedural detail. Cross-checks against published house rules from licensed properties in Nevada, New Jersey, Macau, and the UK.

The Pit
Industry Editor

Owns industry reporting. Sources: regulatory filings (DICJ, AGCO, NJDGE, NGC), operator earnings calls, public licensee disclosures. No anonymous casino sources without corroboration.

Standards
Standards Editor

Owns this page, the corrections log, and conflict-of-interest disclosure. Quarterly review of all editorial roles.

Methodology

  • House edges are sourced. Every edge figure in The Edge is traced to a peer-reviewed reference text — Thorp, Griffin, Sileo, Shackleford, or the relevant property's published paytable.
  • Rules are property-anchored. When we describe a game-rule variant we name a real venue or jurisdiction where it is currently offered.
  • History claims are double-sourced. Tales from the Felt cross-references at least two independent published accounts before any direct quote or named anecdote.
  • No affiliate revenue. BetCanon does not earn referral commissions from casinos, online operators, or affiliate networks. We do not accept paid placements or sponsored copy.

Corrections

Mistakes are public. If BetCanon publishes an incorrect number, a misstated rule, or a misattributed quote, we correct the page in place, add a dated correction note, and log it on the Corrections index. Significant factual corrections are explicitly labeled. To flag one, write to [email protected] with the URL and the issue.

Responsible play

Every casino table game carries a positive house edge — the math always favors the house in the long run. BetCanon publishes reference material because honest math is better than mythology, not because more play is better play.
